The funding rules cover the period May 2017 to March 2018 and apply to all apprenticeship programmes starting on or after 1 May 2017. This includes both apprenticeship frameworks and standards.
These rules form part of the terms and conditions for how the funds in an employer’s digital account can be used, and may also help them to manage their partnerships with training providers.
In response to views submitted to the draft rules, this final documents clarify how apprenticeships are genuine jobs which incorporate skills and development. They also state how, on completion, apprentices should remain with an employer where a job opportunity exists, or be supported into an alternative opportunity.
The Skills Funding Agency (SFA) will be monitoring destination data to ensure that apprenticeship job roles are genuine.
