The Medical Education Academy oversees the delivery of all medical education provided by the Trust. This includes the undergraduate programmes at the University of Liverpool and courses for foundation and postgraduate medical staff.
We also support education programmes for general practice and faculty development. In addition we offer facilities and resources for in-house training at the Trust.
Medical education is funded via the NHS HEE Learning Development Agreement (LDA) – and we are regulated by external bodies including the General Medical Council, Health Education North West, specialty schools, the Royal Colleges, and University of Liverpool. The regulation takes the form of annual GMC trainee survey, assessment visits (annual, special and informal), annual reports and data submission on end of year completion of training.

Our main function is to ensure that the quality frameworks for the delivery of education and training are in place and meet the requirements of the regulatory bodies and the Trust’s high standards for patient care.
