Our key responsibilities include:
The Medical Education and Library Services have robust management arrangements and a dedicated team of staff who continually evolve to meet the changing demands of medical education. The focus of this team is to pull together a framework of quality assurance and support to the large number of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff and students in the hospitals.
Our libraries faciltate access to high quality, evidence based resources. We work with local NHS staff, students and trainess by providing access to the evidence which supports practice, enables research and education, and improves the quality of care.
- Ensuring that the duties, working hours and supervision of trainees are consistent with the delivery of high quality, safe patient care.
- Postgraduate training at our Trust is fair and based on principles of equity
- Quality control of Postgraduate training in our Trust
- Participation in the processes for recruitment, selection and appointment of doctors in training ensuring these are open, fair and effective
- Organising an appropriate induction to our Trust and training placements
- Delivering the requirements set out in the approved curriculum, approved by the General Medical Council (GMC)
- Supporting trainees to acquire the necessary skills and experience through induction, effective educational supervision, an appropriate workload and time to learn
- Planning and maintaining education and training through transparent processes which show who is responsible at each stage
- Supporting the educational facilities, infrastructure and delivering leadership to ensure delivery of the approved curriculum
