The NHS constantly needs to attract people with the right skills and values to fill the many vacancies and roles it supports. In order to do this we need to help people making career choices and job decisions to understand what working in healthcare is really like and the opportunities available in the NHS.

Talking honestly and enthusiastically about your job role can make a real difference for those thinking about working for the NHS. This guide will give you a brief outline of the role of an NHS Careers Ambassador and hopefully help you to decide whether it’s a role you would like to take on.
NHS Careers Ambassadors act as a role model to young people, offering them the chance to find out as much as possible about jobs and professions in the NHS and particularly the role that they play in providing excellent patient care. If you're interested contact Nathalie Usher

MEDIATION TRAINING - 4 DAY PROGRAMME - INTERESTED?

18/5/2018

All too often interpersonal conflict, especially harassment cases go unattended or end up with costly investigations (time, money, resources and personal trauma).

Mediation offers an alternative process (not instead) to conflict resolution, allowing parties to resolve problems and let go of their sense of grievance and mend broken relationships.

Mediation Skills Training is a 4 day programme which will cover the entire mediation process from first contact with the first party to closure and review. It aims to give participants a solid foundation in fundamental Mediation Skills, such as active listening, impartiality, rapport building with disputants, managing conflict and facilitating negotiation. It aims to develop an understanding of mediators own responses to conflict, so that they can manage their own feelings and assumptions and interact constructively with disputants. Read more here

There are training dates now available for facilitators associated with the Healthcare Leadership Model 360 degree feedback tool. New facilitators should have some experience in holding coaching-style conversations, and should have an interest in assisting their colleagues to develop.
Training for new facilitators consists of completing your own 360 degree feedback process, an online learning package as well as a 1-day face-to-face training course.  The 360 degree feedback process and online training package will need to be completed as pre-work before attending the training day.
Dates for the face to face one day courses are as follows: 16th July or 23rd July and will be held at the Clinical Education Centre, Southport. Your trainers on the day will be Tracy Gunn, Head of Education & Training and Karen Apulinario-Jones, Practice Educator.

System OD Collaboration Workshop
Following the success of our System OD Collaboration workshops for the Cheshire & Merseyside and Lancashire & South Cumbria footprints earlier this year, we are now holding two 90 day follow up workshops to build and expand on these earlier sessions. This is a fantastic opportunity for each footprint to come together to collaborate for impact and innovation.
The sessions will benefit from having a wide and diverse audience. With this in mind we’d like to invite you to share this opportunity with your colleagues, both within the NHS and broader public services, and invite them to attend and contribute to the day

Aspiring Chief Executive programme
The role of the chief executive in health care has never been more important. How we appoint to such posts – and help our chief executives to be successful ‘in role’ – is one of the NHS’s most important leadership challenges. As the health system evolves and new models of care emerge, chief executives who can successfully lead provider organisations and collaborate in the transformation of care are key.

  • where they are now and development needs;
  • aspirations within the Director of Nursing talent pipeline;
The cost of attendance on this talent scheme will be funded at a national level. However, there is a requirement for any travel or overnight accommodation to be funded by the individual or individual organisation.

Masterclass – Seeing Things Differently
Working in collaboration with our partners, the first in a series of Masterclasses for 2018/19 will provide system-wide leaders exposure to the latest thinking and help develop their skillsets. We are pleased to introduce, as our key note speaker, Jeremy Scrivens, Director of the Economy at Work, and a global thought leader.

9:00 - 16:00
Manchester

Leading with Moral Purpose
At the heart of leadership is the focus on the service-user. Historically,  a ‘pace setting’ leadership style has been prevalent within the NHS, that focused on targets and delivery rather than engaging both staff and patients. There is now a recognised need for leaders who will work with compassion and a strong sense of moral purpose. This module will provide insight into what it means to lead with compassion in the NHS. It will look at how current policies inform the healthcare landscape, focusing on the need for a passionate commitment to do the ‘right things at the right time' for service users.
Tuesday 10th July 2018
09:00 - 17:00
