To support this Health Education England (working across the North), with the support of NHS R&D North West, has launched applications for the Health Education England North / NIHR BRIDGING SCHEME.
This Bridging Scheme offers the opportunities for Nurses, Midwifes, Allied Health Professionals, Pharmacist or Healthcare Scientists with a keen interest in pursuing a clinical research & academic career to apply for funding to support their development with a particular focus in supporting their development and work towards a successful NIHR Fellowship application. This scheme is particularly targeted at those clinical colleagues who have completed a Masters Level Degree and are looking to undertake a PhD or are seeking a Post-Doctoral Fellowship. Until recently, the routes to developing registered nurses within the workforce have been limited, with the university degree being the main way to train this group of staff.
The introduction of the nursing degree apprenticeship gives a new opportunity for employers to train nurses, while the creation of the new nursing associate role can help to be a bridge between healthcare assistants and graduate registered nurses. These new routes can create a confusing picture for employers and so the infographic has been developed to support you to make the most of the new and existing routes into nursing.
Take a look at the new framework from Acas, designed to help organisations promote positive mental health in the workplace. The resource includes manager guidance for supporting work-life balance, managing mental health at work and handling difficult conversations.
