The NMC is responsible for the professional regulation of the nursing associate role, which is currently being piloted at 35 test sites across England. It is hoped that this move will help nursing associate test sites to prepare trainees to join the new nursing associate NMC register.
Health Education England is leading the pilot and have been working closely with the NMC to ensure that the current trainees will be ready to join the register in January 2019, when the pilot finishes.
The standards are an early draft, and the NMC will launch a public consultation in Spring 2018 to help further develop the standards.
You can find the draft standards of proficiency on the NMC website
