Welcome to our monthly e-newsletter, providing you with all the latest information, offers and events:

Festival of Leadership 2019
Last Thursday we hosted our Festival of Leadership 2019, bringing together our member organisations across three footprints, for a day of celebrating, connecting and inspiring leadership in the North West. This full day event featured guest speakers and headliners including Jaz Ampaw-Farr; Dr Mark Spencer, NHS Collaborate; Catherine Loftus, NHS Leadership Academy; and Deborah Davis, NHS NWLA.
You can explore all the Festival activity on Twitter by searching #NWFoL. More information and resources from the day will be available soon.

An Unconference for the North West OD Community

The OD community across the North West have told us that they would value a space to come together, to share and learn with OD colleagues in the region. In response to this, recognising the wealth of expertise and talent across the North West OD networks, the NHS NWLA is hosting its first Unconference on Thursday 11th July 2019 at the Manchester Conference Centre.

What is an Unconference?  Have you ever been to a conference and found that, despite the experts and keynote speakers, some of the most interesting interactions and most valuable ideas came from the coffee break? This is where Unconferences come in; an unconference is basically a conference without predefined topics or keynotes. The expertise is in the room, not up on stage. There is a high-level structure and theme, but actual topics are generated by participants and breakout groups are formed dynamically based on interest and relevance.

Interested in attending?  Click here to join us at the event, and take a look at the further information about what to expect from the day on our website.

NHS North West Talent Practitioners Community of Practice sessions
We hope to engage a broad, inclusive community of practitioners, offering further opportunities for sharing good practice. The community will benefit from the wealth of skills, knowledge and experience North West practitioners bring to their ‘talent’ work. These sessions will provide a space for people involved in developing Talent Management systems and delivering activities to connect, share and learn.
The sessions will be supported by expert community of practice facilitators who will help the community shape the agenda for the sessions. The sessions are designed to be flexible to support the community’s needs.

Talent Management Maturity Diagnostic
The Talent Management Maturity Diagnostic Tool is an important development for the NHS and will help organisations to identify where and how they can improve their talent management practices.  During 19/20 every NHS organisation will be asked to complete it, engage their Board in understanding the results and take steps to recognise achievements and improve TM approaches.  This is an opportunity for 5 organisations across the North West region to be an early adopter site and if your organisation is interested in this, we request that HR/Workforce Directors respond with an expression of interest to our TM Lead by the 14th June 2019. Collaborative Masterclass | New Public Leadership for the 21st Century, with Jeremy Heimans
In the digital era, the nature of power has been upended. Once-respected institutions – governments, businesses and media – face unexpected challenges and mounting public scepticism. Yet many organisations remain unable to develop strategies for integrating new power thinking and methodologies into their existing strategies.
Jeremy Heimans will share with us his latest thinking on how new power functions in the new world and will enable us to think through what this shift might mean for the traditional public sector in the UK and for our roles as leaders as we mobilise participation from employees, patients/clients and the public using new power values.
